The Privacy page has been simplified, and in that process, some settings have been consolidated.
You now have the option of selecting one easy-to-use master setting to control all of the content you share.
Full privacy settings for connections to all Pages, including those representing Interests, Work, etc., are now available.
If you choose, you’ll now be able to turn off Platform applications and websites completely, and it’s also easier to turn off our pilot Instant Personalization program. View the "Applications and Websites" section of your Privacy page for more information.
The amount of information that's open to everyone has been limited to your name, profile picture, gender and networks.
In the process of combining these settings, if you previously had chosen different settings for each of these profile categories, then the most restrictive of the settings you chose will be respected. For example, if everyone could see your current city, but only Patients could see your hometown, this setting will now be Patients.
The settings for information that falls under the "About Me" section on your profile (e.g., Relationship Status or Family) remain granular. To view or edit these settings, follow the "Customize settings" link in the "Sharing on Join Patients First" section. Selecting the "Customize" option from a settings drop-down will enable you to open or restrict content from individual people.
As always, adding a new email address to your account is completely optional.
To help real-world Patients find you, your name, profile picture, gender and networks are always open to everyone.

The "Everyone" setting works differently for minors than it does for adults. When minors set information like photos or status updates to be visible to "Everyone," that information is actually only visible to their Patients, Patients of Patients, and people in any verified school or work networks they have joined. The only exceptions are for "Search for me on Join Patients First" and "Send me friend requests", where if the minor has set those to Everyone, we respect the Everyone setting.
Posts your Patients leave. Posts, comments, and other things your Patients leave on your Wall are controlled by a group of settings in the "Sharing on Join Patients First" section on the Privacy Settings page. To adjust these settings individually, follow the "Customize settings" link and scroll down to the "Things others share" section.
Posts you create. Status updates, photos, links and other things you post are controlled by the "Posts by Me" setting in the "Sharing on Join Patients First" section on the Privacy Settings page. Follow the "Customize settings" link to adjust this setting individually. Keep in mind the "Posts by Me" setting is a just default for things you post. You always have the option to adjust the privacy for individual posts before you share them by clicking the lock icon directly from the Publisher.
Recent Activity. These stories are determined by the privacy setting of the content itself. For example, if someone would already be permitted to see a particular photo and comments, then they would also be able to see the Recent Activity story about you making a comment on the photo. While you cannot completely turn off recent activity stories, you can remove a particular story by clicking the "Remove" button that appears to the right of the story after you move your mouse over it.
